First Community Bank Partners with Ethica for Islamic Finance Training and Certification

Dubai, UAE, October 11, 2018

Ethica Institute of Islamic Finance in Dubai and First Community Bank (FCB) in Kenya announced today that a new batch of FCB bankers will be trained and certified by Ethica Institute in the award-winning Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE) program. FCB is Kenya's first Shariah-based bank. First Community Bank began operations in 2008, the year after it was established by private investors in Kuwait, Kenya and Tanzania.

Ethica’s spokesperson said, “Kenya is an important market for Islamic finance given its significant Muslim population, particularly in Nairobi and the coast. Given the flexible terms of Islamic finance, we also hope to make FCB an attractive banking choice for non-Muslims.” FCB receives access to Ethica's CIFE program along with a back-end dashboard allowing managers to monitor learner progress each week. Hand-framed CIFE certificates are provided to all staff passing the CIFE exam.

Ethica Institute of Islamic Finance has trained over 15,000 paying professionals in 160 financial institutions across 65 countries, winning numerous industry awards (including 17 awards in 2018); previously "Best Research and Education Company" presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai at the Global Islamic Economy Summit (Dubai), "Best Islamic Finance Qualification" from Global Islamic Finance Awards (UK), and "Islamic Finance Education Provider of the Year" from Global Banking and Finance Awards (UK).

The 4-month Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE) is a globally recognized certificate accredited to comply with AAOIFI, the world's leading Islamic finance standard. Ethica also offers two advanced certificates in Financial Analysis and Accounting.
